YouTube TV and DirecTV Stream customers have until September 8, 2026, to file a claim for money from a $50 million settlement involving The Walt Disney Company.
The YouTube TV settlement covers people who paid for YouTube TV or certain DirecTV streaming services at any point from April 1, 2019, through March 31, 2026.
The amount each person may receive is not fixed. Payments will depend partly on how long the person subscribed and how many valid claims are filed.
Who Qualifies for the YouTube TV Settlement?
According to the official Biddle v. Disney case, the settlement covers two groups:
- People who purchased a YouTube TV subscription between April 1, 2019, and March 31, 2026.
- People who purchased DirecTV Stream, DirecTV Now or AT&T TV Now during the same period.
A person who subscribed to both YouTube TV and DirecTV Stream can make a claim for both subscriptions using one claim form.
Fubo customers are not included in this settlement. Fubo subscribers were also part of the wider lawsuit against Disney, but that part of the case has not been settled.
The Deadline to File Is September 8
A valid claim must be submitted online by September 8 or mailed with a September 8 postmark. The official settlement administrator says filing a claim is the only way to receive a cash payment from the settlement.
Claims can be filed through OnlineTVSettlement.com. People who received a settlement notice by email or mail should use the information provided in that notice when completing the form.
The deadline makes the case similar to other large consumer settlements where eligible customers lose the chance to collect money if they miss the filing window.

How Much Money Could You Receive?
There is no guaranteed dollar amount for each claimant.
The settlement creates a gross fund of $50 million. After approved attorney fees, settlement administration costs and other expenses are deducted, the remaining money will be distributed among eligible claimants.
The official settlement FAQ says payments will be calculated on a pro rata basis and will be proportional to the length of each qualifying YouTube TV or DirecTV Stream subscription.
In simple terms, a person who subscribed for several years may receive more than someone who used the service for only a few months. The final amount also depends on how many people submit valid claims.
There is another factor. Ninety percent of the net settlement fund is reserved for claimants who lived at any point during the class period in states and territories classified as repealer jurisdictions under the settlement. The remaining 10 percent goes to qualifying customers in other states.
Because the final number of claims is not yet known, reports giving a specific expected payment should be treated cautiously.
Why Did Disney Agree to Pay $50 Million?
The case is Biddle et al. v. The Walt Disney Company in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
The subscribers who filed the lawsuit accused Disney of violating federal antitrust law and state consumer protection laws through business practices that allegedly pushed up prices for live television streaming services.
The class action complaint specifically pointed to Disney channels such as ESPN and the terms used in carriage agreements with streaming providers. Plaintiffs argued that those arrangements contributed to higher prices for base packages.
The complaint noted that the YouTube TV base price rose from $35 to $73 during the period discussed in the case, while DirecTV streaming prices also rose sharply.
Those figures are part of the allegations made by the plaintiffs. The court has not ruled that Disney broke antitrust law.
Disney denies wrongdoing and liability. The company agreed to the $50 million partial settlement without admitting that the allegations were true.
When Will YouTube TV Settlement Payments Arrive?
Do not expect money immediately after filing a claim.
The court has scheduled a final approval hearing for January 14, 2027. U.S. District Judge Edward J. Davila will consider whether the settlement, payment plan, attorney fees and other terms should receive final approval.
If the court approves the settlement and it becomes final, valid claimants can then receive payments. The administrator has not published an exact payment date.
Class counsel can request attorney fees of up to 30 percent of the $50 million fund, or $15 million, although the court can approve a lower amount. Other approved costs will also come out of the fund before payments are calculated.
What Happens if You Do Nothing?
Anyone who qualifies but does not submit a valid claim by the deadline will not receive settlement money.
The official notice also explains that people who remain in the settlement generally give up the right to bring another lawsuit against the released parties over the same claims. The deadline to exclude yourself from the settlement is also September 8, while objections to the proposed settlement can be filed through December 1.
For anyone who subscribed to YouTube TV or DirecTV Stream during the covered period, the most important step today is checking the official YouTube TV settlement claim site rather than relying on links sent through social media or unofficial settlement pages.
People who already filed should keep their confirmation information and watch the official settlement site for updates after the January 2027 approval hearing.
Similar settlement payments can take months to reach consumers after claims close, as seen with the later distributions from the Facebook privacy settlement.
