Social Security Payment Schedule for November 2026 – Dates, $5,181 Maximum and Early Deposits

Social Security Payment Schedule for November 2026

November Social Security payments begin Tuesday, November 3, and one group of retirees will receive its money earlier than expected. Veterans Day has moved the usual November 11 deposit to November 10.

Four payment dates are scheduled this month. Some beneficiaries can receive as much as $5,181, although that maximum applies to a small group of high earners who delayed retirement until age 70.

November also brings the first personalized notices for the 3.6% Social Security increase coming in January 2027.

Social Security Payment Dates for November 2026

The official payment calendar confirms November 3, 10, 18 and 25 as the four Social Security payment dates.

Date Who Receives Payment?
Tuesday, November 3 People receiving benefits before May 1997 and those collecting both Social Security and SSI
Tuesday, November 10 Recipients born between the 1st and 10th
Wednesday, November 18 Recipients born between the 11th and 20th
Wednesday, November 25 Recipients born between the 21st and 31st

Most people who began collecting benefits after April 1997 follow the birthday schedule. For benefits based on another worker’s earnings record, that worker’s birthday may determine the payment date.

November 10 Payments Are Arriving Early

Veterans Day falls on Wednesday, November 11. Social Security payments normally scheduled for that date will arrive Tuesday, November 10, instead.

Recipients born between the 1st and 10th benefit from the change. Everyone in the two later birthday groups remains on the regular Wednesday schedule.

SSI recipients have another unusual arrangement. Their November payment arrived Friday, October 30, because November 1 fell on a Sunday.

People collecting both SSI and Social Security therefore receive their November benefits on two separate dates, October 30 and November 3. The early SSI deposit is not an additional benefit.

Who Will Receive $5,181 in November?

The maximum monthly retirement benefit in 2026 is $5,181 for someone claiming at age 70 after earning at the Social Security taxable maximum throughout a long career.

Claiming earlier changes the maximum considerably. The SSA retirement benefit figures show the following amounts for workers beginning benefits in 2026 after consistently earning the taxable maximum.

Retirement Age Maximum Monthly Benefit
62 $2,969
Full retirement age $4,152
70 $5,181

A worker who qualifies for the maximum at 70 receives $2,212 more per month than the maximum available to someone claiming at 62. The figures describe different claiming scenarios, not a guaranteed increase for every worker who waits.

How Much Does the Average Retiree Actually Receive?

The SSA estimated that the average retired worker would receive $2,071 monthly in January 2026, following the year’s 2.8% cost-of-living adjustment.

For retired couples receiving two benefits, the estimated combined average was $3,208. Disabled workers had an estimated monthly average of $1,630.

Individual checks depend on earnings history, claiming age and benefit deductions. Someone who worked fewer than 35 years may also receive less because years without earnings can count as zeros in the retirement calculation.

Another Payment Increase Is Coming in January 2027

Social Security benefits will increase by 3.6% in January 2027. The SSA expects the average monthly retirement payment to rise by $75, reaching $2,170.

SSI recipients will get their increased January payment on December 31, 2026. The higher benefit is automatic, with no application required.

Personalized notices will become available online in late November through my Social Security accounts. Beneficiaries who create an account by November 18 can access their notice online when available.

The 2027 Social Security increase will also bring higher earnings limits for people collecting retirement benefits before full retirement age.

What to Do If Your Payment Does Not Arrive

Check your bank account on the scheduled payment date. If the deposit is missing, contact your bank first.

The SSA recommends allowing three additional mailing days before reporting a missing payment. Beneficiaries can check upcoming payments through their Social Security account or call 1-800-772-1213.

For November, the date worth checking most carefully is November 10. Anyone normally paid on the second Wednesday should receive the deposit one day earlier because of Veterans Day.
