Another round of Social Security payments will be distributed on Wednesday, July 22. The payment is for beneficiaries whose birth dates fall from the 21st through the 31st of any month.
July 22 is the final birth date based Social Security distribution for July 2026. It is not the final payment scheduled for the entire month. Supplemental Security Income recipients have another date to watch on July 31, when their August SSI payment will arrive one day early.
The July 22 group includes eligible people receiving retirement, disability, spousal, or survivor benefits. Most people in this group began receiving Social Security after May 1997. The payment date is based on the birth date connected to the benefit record.
Who Gets a Social Security Payment on July 22?
Beneficiaries born from the 21st through the 31st are scheduled to receive their July payment on Wednesday. The July 22 payment schedule reported by AS USA follows the regular system used by the Social Security Administration.
A person receiving benefits from another worker’s record should use that worker’s birth date. The rule can apply to some spouses, surviving family members, and dependents. A beneficiary’s state, surname, bank, and Social Security number do not determine the Wednesday payment group.
The July 22 distribution follows two earlier rounds. People born from the 1st through the 10th were paid on July 8. Beneficiaries born from the 11th through the 20th received payments on July 15.

The Washington Examiner reported that July 22 completes the third round of regular Wednesday payments. People who already received their July benefit on July 2, July 8, or July 15 should not expect another regular Social Security payment on July 22.

Some Beneficiaries Follow a Different Payment Schedule
Not every Social Security recipient is assigned a date according to a birth date. People who began receiving benefits before May 1997 generally receive Social Security on the third day of each month. Certain beneficiaries who receive both Social Security and SSI also follow that schedule for their Social Security payment.
Those recipients were paid on July 2. Their regular date would have been July 3, but July 3 was the federal holiday observed before Independence Day. Federal payments scheduled for a weekend or holiday are normally issued on the previous business day.
How Much Will Beneficiaries Receive?
Social Security retirement benefits are calculated from a worker’s earnings record and the age at which the worker begins collecting benefits.
The maximum monthly retirement benefit for someone who starts collecting at age 70 in 2026 is $5,181.
A worker starting at full retirement age can receive up to $4,152. The maximum for a worker claiming at age 62 is $2,969, according to the Social Security Administration.
Maximum payments apply to workers who earned at or above the taxable maximum for many years. Most retirees receive less. The estimated average monthly benefit for a retired worker was $2,071 at the start of 2026.
Disability and survivor payments follow separate calculations. Deductions for Medicare premiums, taxes, benefit overpayments, or other authorized adjustments can also change the amount deposited into an account.
SSI Recipients Have Another Payment Coming on July 31
July 22 is not an SSI payment date. SSI is a separate needs based program for qualifying people with limited income and resources. It supports eligible older adults, people who are blind, and people with disabilities.
SSI recipients received their regular July payment on July 1. They will receive another deposit on Friday, July 31 because August 1 falls on a Saturday. The second July deposit is the August SSI benefit arriving early. It is not a bonus or an additional month of benefits.
The calendar shift explains reports that some recipients will not receive a payment during August. As AL.com reported, SSI recipients will not see a separate deposit in August because the money will already have been issued on July 31.
Regular Social Security retirement, disability, and survivor payments will continue in August. Beneficiaries assigned to the birth date schedule will be paid on August 12, August 19, or August 26. People normally paid on the third day of the month are scheduled to receive their August payment on August 3.
The maximum federal SSI payment in 2026 is $994 for an individual and $1,491 for an eligible couple. Actual payments can be lower because income, household arrangements, and state supplements affect the final amount.
What to Do if the July 22 Payment Does Not Arrive?
Direct deposits can appear at different times during the day. Banks and Direct Express card providers may also need time to post incoming federal payments.
Recipients should check their bank account, Direct Express balance, and personal Social Security account before reporting a missing payment. The official SSA payment calendar confirms the scheduled dates for 2026.
A beneficiary who still cannot find the payment should contact the bank or card provider first.
Social Security can then be contacted at 1-800-772-1213 or through a local office if the financial institution cannot locate the deposit.
